SCC proceedings

The Virginia General Assembly charged the State Corporation Commission (SCC) with establishing the rules for structural change in the energy industry. The SCC has adopted rules for retail access that ensure the market develops in a manner that facilitates competition while ensuring service reliability and consumer protection. The SCC also has been given the responsibility to assist consumers in shopping for energy service and informing them of their rights and obligations as customers.

The SCC has worked collaboratively with the General Assembly’s Legislative Transition Task Force in conjunction with the phase-in of retail competition in the energy supply market in the Commonwealth. For reports and updates, visit the Legislative Transition Task Force website.
