Grant pilot program


Is your organization interested in undertaking a special project to help Virginia consumers understand the new competitive energy market? If so, your project may be eligible for a Virginia Energy Choice grant. The grant program accompanies the Virginia Energy Choice consumer education program, which is authorized through April 2006.

From January 15 to February 28, 2002, applications for the Pilot Program of the Consumer Education Grant Program will be accepted. The Pilot Program is expected to run through June 30, 2002. Applications for the general grant program (with a duration of 1 year) will be accepted until June 30, 2002. The general grant program will operate annually in succeeding years.

Possible grant projects:

  • Translate Virginia Energy Choice materials into a foreign language and distribute the translated materials to non-English speaking residents
  • Customize and distribute materials for audiences that have special needs
  • Create curriculum for and hold workshops about Virginia Energy Choice
  • Develop training materials for volunteer educators
  • And many other possibilities…
